ABOUT
US
The
Library Bar & Grill was oringinally established in 1920 as a
neighborhood version of a grocery store, and down through the years
it has evolved into a neighborhood version of a pub, or more specifically,
an English style meeting house.
In
the early 1950's it was re-named The Brown Owl, and perhaps owing
to its then dirt floor or perhaps to the copious quantities of beer
consumed there, its patrons were nicknamed "The Dirty Birds".
In honor of this epithet, Dr. Sutton, the world famous ornithologist,
would much later donate a brown owl he had stuffed to The Library.
Look for it in the rafters today. He moves around.....and he's watching.
Before
it became The Library though it must be mentioned that for many
years it was called Pinks, and the stories many of the locals tell
of Pinks make it worth remembering.
Finally
however, The Library did come full circle and it was so re-named
in 1997. We have been here ever since providing a meeting house
for Norman's fine citizens.
